The Fresno County Asthma Coalition is a diverse group of agencies and organizations. Members volunteer their time to meet and strategize approaches to providing asthma education and advocacy efforts to improve environmental factors that effect school-aged children where they live, learn, and play.

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that decreases the flow of air into and out of the lungs.

With asthma, the airways of the lung become inflamed, the muscles around the airways tighten, and the lungs produce more mucus.
Asthma can be controlled through education, asthma management skills, and appropriate medications.

What are some of the symptoms of Asthma?

  • Chest Tightness
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Wheezes

  • Respiratory Infections
  • Cigarette Smoke
  • Animal Dander
  • Dust
  • Pollen
  • Strong Emotions

  • Chemical Sprays (pesticides, air fresheners, household cleaners)
